COACHING THE EMERGENCY VEHICLE OPERATOR (CEVO) TRAINING

This class is designed to familiarize the students with the safe operation of fire apparatus 07252012_004and/or an ambulance during normal driving conditions and during emergency response. The course presents the principles of defensive driving with heavy vehicles. Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a certificate from the National Safety Council.

CEVO 3 FIRE
This highly interactive program promotes critical thinking during pressure situations. Topics include how to operate the vehicle on various road surfaces and in adverse weather conditions, apparatus inspection, driving with and without sirens, safety at the fire ground and more.

Students will learn: Creating the proper cushion of safety, properly positioning the fire apparatus, navigating through intersections, passing and changing lanes, determining adequate reach time, handling blind spots and backing up, and more.

CEVO 3 AMBULANCE
A must for emergency medical services vehicle operators, this course promotes critical thinking during pressure situations. The course features videos that show situations ambulance drivers face every day, followed by group discussion.

Students will learn: Handling blind spots and leaving an adequate cushion for safety, navigating through intersections, proper ways to pass and change lanes, backing up properly and parking, steering clear of hydroplaning, avoiding tailgating and improving reaction time, and more.

Each program 6-8 hours in length.
