WATER RESCUE AWARENESS

WATER RESCUE AWARENESS FOR FIRST RESPONDERS

Water Rescue for the First Responder is designed to introduce emergency services personnel who respond to water emergency incidents to scene assessment, activation of the Emergency Response System, evaluation of potential and existing water hazards, scene management, rescue vs. recovery, and personal safety measures.

All responders must recognize the risks and dangers of rescues in moving water and know what actions to take to ensure personal, team and scene safety.

This Awareness Level program is a classroom session. It will present students with the need for water rescue, scene safety, management, training, resources, equipment and identification of “rescue” versus “recovery” operations.

This program meets or exceeds NFPA 1670 Standards on Operations and Training for Technical Rescue Incidents – Awareness-level guidelines for Water Rescue.
