SWIFT WATER RESCUE TRAINING

WATER RESCUE TRAINING

These programs are designed to introduce the student(s) to Swift Water Rescue beginning with an “awareness” program.  Then we progress the students to the “operations” program, and finally to the advanced “technicians” level.

WATER RESCUE FOR THE FIRST RESPONDER – NFPA 1670 AWARENESS LEVEL:

This course is designed for all emergency services personnel, municipal and utility employees, outdoor professionals, and anyone who may respond to water incidents.  Responders must be able to recognize risks and dangers, and be able to take appropriate action to ensure personal, team, and scene safety.

In the Awareness program, we will address the need for water search and rescue, scene safety, assessment and management, activation of the Emergency Response System, training and resources needed to perform water operations, and rescue vs. recovery operations.

The course content meets NFPA 1670 – Standards on Operations and Training for Technical Rescue Incidents –Water Search and Rescue – Awareness Level.

 

WATER RESCUE & EMERGENCY RESPONSE  – OPERATIONS:

The Water Rescue and Emergency Response Operations Course covers planning for water emergencies, dynamics of moving water, medical conditions, personal safety, and fundamental rescue techniques (self and shore based rescue).  The course provides students with classroom and hands-on training, including a session in a controlled swimming pool.  The Water Rescue Awareness course is a prerequisite to attend this hands-on operations course.

ADVANCED LINE SYSTEMS RESCUE – TECHNICIAN:

The advanced Line Systems Rescue (ALSR) – Technician Level course trains rescue personnel in rescue systems that are complex and exposes personnel to potentially life threatening hazards. These systems should only be used when lower risk options have been exhausted and when the team has the training, equipment, and skills to utilize these techniques. These systems taught in the course require rescue personnel to:
• Select the appropriate system for the situation.
• Establish and operate the system.
• Effect the rescue or recovery.
• Tear down the system.

 

EMERGENCY BOAT OPERATIONS & RESCUE: 

The Emergency Boat Operations and Rescue course trains rescue personnel to select, outfit, operate and rescue individuals utilizing boats as a rescue platform.  Course components include classroom and practical hands-on training in :  boat selection, rescue craft outfitting, boat handling, moving-water tactics, emergency boat procedures, and boat rescue techniques.  This class meets or exceeds NFPA 1670 Technician-level guidelines.

Pre-requisite:  Water Rescue Operations and Technician-level training.  Students must also possess a Boating Safety Education Certificate.

Water Rescue Programs meets or exceeds NJ PEOSHA and NFPA 1670 standards.

Classes follow the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission Water Rescue Curriculum.

* That house is at the intersection of Bernard Drive and Route 29. This is the intersection for the entrance to Scudders Falls Park (training site). Students can use this address on their GPS and make either a left, or right into the park at this intersection. If they are coming from Route 1 to Route 95 to Route 29, they will make a left. If they are coming from Route 195 to Route 29, they will also make a left. If they are coming on Route 29 from the Lambertville direction, they will make a right.
