RESPECT for Baltimore Fire Department

04282015 Baltimore_MichaelReynolds_EuropeanPress

According to The Baltimore Sun, overnight from Monday April 27 to Tuesday April 28, there were 144 vehicle fires and 15 building fires.  This does not include other requests for the fire department for various calls for service.

As was shown by media outlets, fire apparatus was pelted with bottles and bricks, and thugs even slashed fire hose as firefighters battled fires.

“It really shows you the degree to which it was dangerous last night, but we are committed to helping the city”, said Marc Fisher of Howard County Fire Rescue (in a USA Today quote).

As the riots escalated, additional resources were called in to assist Baltimore firefighters.  Fire and EMS units from Washington DC, Anne Arundel County and Howard County Fire & Rescue were deployed into the city.

Baltimore Fire Department and their neighbors demonstrated to the world what America’s Fire Service is, and as firefighters, we should all be proud!

Last night, the city was reported to be “stable”, with heavy law enforcement and National Guard support. Baltimore Police Commissioner Anthony Batts reported 10 arrests – 7 for violating the 10 p.m. curfew.
