COURSE OVERVIEW
This course prepares first responders and hazardous materials personnel to recognize, assess, and manage potential Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) incidents within an all-hazards response environment. Through case studies, scenario-based discussions, and risk-based decision-making principles, students examine chemical, biological, radiological, explosive, and unknown-threat incidents to better understand how these events develop and how responders can identify critical indicators early. Topics include scene recognition, behavioral prediction, operational coordination, decontamination considerations, evidence preservation, and tactical decision-making under uncertain conditions. Participants leave with a stronger ability to evaluate evolving threats, interpret incomplete information, and apply disciplined response strategies that support both mission objectives and responder safety.
This course satisfies the following requirements: OSHA 1910.120, NFPA 470
