Michael J. Bascom brings more than 45 years of experience across emergency services, emergency management, municipal government, and public safety leadership.
As State Leader of the New Jersey EMS Task Force, Mike has helped coordinate complex emergency operations and major planned events requiring collaboration among agencies, jurisdictions, and levels of government.
His operational experience includes leadership and response associated with some of the most consequential emergencies of the past several decades, including the September 11 attacks, Superstorm Sandy, the COVID-19 pandemic, and disaster operations following Hurricanes Irma and Maria in the U.S. Virgin Islands. His experience also includes large-scale planning and coordination surrounding Super Bowl XLVIII and FIFA World Cup 2026. But Mike's experience doesn't end with emergency operations.
He has worked extensively within municipal government, helping communities navigate budgets, financial constraints, organizational challenges, contract negotiations, policy development, grants, and the sometimes-complicated relationship between public safety agencies and governing bodies.
That combination gives Mike a perspective few instructors can offer. He understands the operational side. He understands the government side. And he knows how to bring the two together.
