LOCK OUT / TAG OUT
Although not an annual requirement, this Lock-Out/Tag-Out training prepares emergency responders to safely operate around machinery, electrical systems, and fuel-fired equipment commonly encountered during fires and rescues. The module addresses critical hazards such as unexpected activation, live electrical sources, and the release of stored energy, all of which can result in serious injury or death if not properly controlled.
Students learn to recognize hazardous energy sources and apply proper procedures for shutting down, securing, and isolating equipment. Through practical instruction, the course reinforces safe operating practices that help prevent the uncontrolled release of energy and improve overall scene safety.
