BASIC SHORING CONCEPTS

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of structural shoring and stabilization.  Topics include recognizing structural instability, identifying collapse hazards, understanding load paths, and the selection and use of structural support equipment, including manufactured, engineered, and mechanical shoring systems such as Paratech, as well as traditional timber shoring techniques.

RESPONSES TO STRUCTURAL DAMAGE INCIDENTS 

This course prepares students to recognize hazards and make informed decisions when responding to damaged or compromised structures.  Topics include structural damage assessment, collapse indicators, scene size-up, risk assessment, and operational safety.  Hands-on skills training reinforces structural stabilization techniques using manufactured, engineered, and mechanical shoring systems, including Paratech, as well as traditional timber shoring methods.

STRUCTURAL COLLAPSE OPERATIONS

This course provides students with the knowledge and hands-on skills associated with Structural Collapse Rescue Operations Level competencies outlined in NFPA 1006 and NFPA 2500.  Training focuses on building construction, structural collapse hazard recognition, scene size-up, risk assessment, and operational safety.  Practical skill stations emphasize structural stabilization and shoring using manufactured and mechanical systems, including Paratech, and traditional timber shoring.  Students are introduced to rescue techniques involving lifting and moving heavy loads, breaching and breaking materials, cutting, debris removal, and victim access and extrication.  Emphasis is placed on safe equipment operation, initial stabilization, and effective rescue operations in damaged or collapsed structures.

Training Prerequisite: TEEX Structural Collapse Specialist (CBT) and Technical Search Specialist (CBT)

STRUCTURAL COLLAPSE TECHNICIAN

This advanced course provides students with the knowledge and hands-on skills associated with Structural Collapse Rescue Technician Level competencies outlined in NFPA 1006 and NFPA 2500.  Training emphasizes advanced structural assessment, collapse hazard recognition, scene management, risk assessment, and technical rescue operations within damaged or collapsed structures.  Intensive hands-on skill stations focus on advanced structural stabilization and shoring using manufactured, engineered, and mechanical systems.  Students perform complex rescue operations involving heavy lifting and moving, breaching and breaking concrete and masonry, cutting structural steel and other building materials, debris removal, tunneling, and victim access and extrication.  Emphasis is placed on advanced rescue techniques, coordinated team operations, equipment proficiency, and safe execution of complex structural collapse rescue scenarios.
