COURSE OVERVIEW
Tox-Medic prepares EMS providers, rescue medics, and task force medical specialists to deliver patient care within hazardous materials environments where medical and operational challenges occur simultaneously. Through scenario-based training, students learn to assess toxidromes, interpret environmental and detection data, differentiate contamination from exposure, and apply risk-based medical interventions across chemical, biological, industrial, opioid, WMD, and unknown-hazard incidents. Emphasis is placed on integrating medical decision-making with hazardous materials operations, balancing patient care with responder safety, and adapting treatment strategies when information is incomplete or conditions are rapidly evolving. Participants leave with the skills needed to support both patient outcomes and incident objectives in complex hazardous environments.
This course satisfies the following requirements: OSHA 1910.120; NFPA 470, 473, 1072, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1994, 1999
